PLATFORM and Ezy-Dun open up community and cultural festivals to be more inclusive and accessible for all. Launched in March 2019, PLATFORM is an accessible and inclusive transportable art installation space, and Ezy-Dun is a portable accessible bathroom with hoist and full adult changing facilities.

IDEAS and Eastern Riverina Arts (ERA) have collaborated with funding from an NDIS ILC National Readiness Grant to deliver this project over two years. PLATFORM aims to increase the participation and visibility of both artists and community members with a disability at community and cultural events across the region. PLATFORM was launched on 4th March at Wagga Wagga Beach Reserve in Johnson St, Wagga.

PLATFORM is an inclusive and accessible ‘art installation space’ adapted from a 40-foot shipping container. Designed to be a flexible art space, the container is transported on a semi-trailer and can be configured as a sensory space, chill-out area, exhibition space or even set up as a small stage.PLATFORM further provides complimentary consultations and disability awareness training for local councils, event committees, organisers and volunteers, to help build the capacity of communities to better deliver inclusive and accessible events that anyone can attend.

“The vivid realisation of an art space accompanied by the much needed portable accessible bathroom gives the opportunity for all people to get out amongst their own community festivals”, said IDEAS Executive Officer, Diana Palmer.

PLATFORM and Ezy-Dun hit the road in March and made their debut at the 125th Anniversary Celebrations of Wyalong and West Wyalong at Cooinda Park on Saturday the 23rd of March. Next stop is Lanterns on the Lagoon in Tumut! Stay tuned for more details!
